About the event
This workshop will give attendees a brief introduction to Linux operating systems (what are they? How are they different from Windows or MacOS?) and the command-line interface, and they will have the opportunity to see a practical application of Linux in ongoing scholarly research in robotics (using Ubuntu as a platform for Robot Operating Systems)!
More about Aparna:
Aparna is a first-year computer science student at the Stevens Institute of Technology and a Writing Officer at Reinvented Magazine. As is her duty as a FIRST alum, she has been working to share the knowledge she amassed over the years with local FIRST Tech Challenge teams through mentorship. She is also using her experience in FTC and as a software engineering intern at SES (a satellite company) to aid in university-level research efforts in developing software that will allow for increased precision during robot-assisted surgery using visual and haptic feedback.
